Kim Kardashian Auctions Off Clothes For Charity

Bravo Kim! I think this the most meaningful thing I have ever seen the Kardshians use their fame for. It gives me some ideas.. as my closet is so full of clothes... ( I LOVE clothes, shoes, purses... etc..) that I now need need a room for them! LOL!

Anyway, great story originally posted on www.starpulse.com. (Read Below)

Socialite Kim Kardashian has found a good use for her old clothes - she sells them online and donates the proceeds to charity.

The brunette and her family, stars of reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, are regular features in the gossip columns and they refuse to be seen in the same outfit twice. So Kim gathers their worn garments and sells them on auction website eBay.com to benefit a good cause.

She tells Complex magazine, "I do an eBay auction once every three months, and my whole family gets involved. If we're photographed wearing something, we don't typically like to wear it again, so we do these auctions, and I give the proceeds to the Dream Foundation, which is kind of like Make-A-Wish, but it grants wishes to terminally ill adults."

D.L. Hughley Canned: CNN Pulls Plug on Hughley's Show

Linked From : http://blogs.courant.com/stan_simpson

By

Stan Simpson

When it gave foul-mouthed comedian D.L. Hughley his own talk show, venerable and serious-minded CNN was trying to shake things up and reach a broader, younger and hipperdemographic, It wasn't a good fit.

D.L. Hughley Breaks the News really didn't break any news. And the critics were killing it.

CNN canned him.

I never saw the show, but those who did said itwascontrived and ill-suited for the cable network. Hughley, though, does indeed have a fresh and authentic perspective on world events.

Comedians gaining legitimacy as political pundits is all the rage these days. Bill Maher, The Cobert Report, Comedy Central etc.

But CNN is not the place for a guy whose forte is political and social commentary laced with ribald and racial humor.

Hughley gave a speech at Quinnipiac University in February and actually was very insightful.

Maybe 60 Minutes, also trying trend younger, will give D.L. a shot next. ... (a joke, folks. Just a joke!)

What Is “Too Old” For Hip-Hop?

XXLmag.com

Hip-hop has no age limit or size requirement. If you’re at least “this” tall, you can roll with the culture. No problems given, no questions asked.

But Rap, the musical facet of the movement, is more micro-cosmic, with its own set of personalized regulations. I’m not referring to “don’t snitch” & “never out-rhyme your boss”, those go without saying. I mean the ubiquitous guidelines that make rappers bonafide “Rap Superstars.”

Youth is a major cog in that system. Think car transmission, as opposed to the entire engine. “Rap” wasn’t born in some apartment by a couple of windbags watching The Price Is Right. It began on the street, in the park, at the parties. Call me old fashioned, but there’s something about adult children & crow’s feet that make it hard for me to believe in middle aged pseudo-gangsta rhetoric. Some are authentic of course, but others, simply put, need more people.

I think it’s scientifically impossible for a 43-year-old man to have “swag,” much less covet endless scallywags, shoot up enemy tour buses & relieve third world Kingpins of their product. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger stopped blowing up robots & murdering alien headhunters once it was time to “Just for Men” his salt & pepper coiffure. How much “gangsta” still exists outside of the studio when you start scheduling prostate exams? Point is, we all grow up eventually, & contrary to popular belief, there’s nothing wrong with that.

Rap is a career, I get it. So, instead of an annual “farewell” album, just let the music mature, as it’s supposed to, & let the voice of the young generation (no Kanye West) be just that. I don’t think artists should ever “retire,” but their material should at least grow with their core audience. The same core audience that was there when the “fifteen minutes” began. The same core audience that will still be there when the microwave dings & the Internets suck them dry in search of the next soul to devour.

Loyal die hards don’t give a shit about a ridiculous dance. They can care less if royalty & SSI checks come on the same day. They’re in it for the music, as we all should be. Diamond lane time for those with experience, dig? Get the torch, light your fire, pass the torch & the circle of life continues………

For argument’s sake; Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, 39. Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus, 37. Andre “Dr. Dre” Young, 43, Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena, 39, O’Shay “Ice Cube” Jackson, 39, Earl “E-40″ Stevens, 41, to name a few.-Tony Grand$

Entrepreneurs! Want to own and sell your own custom label wine?

Grape Expectations: Algodon Wine Estates Barrel Ownership Program

barrel up!

You fantasize about quitting your job, buying a vineyard in South America, blogging about it, then selling the book rights for millions.

As close as you’ll likely get? The Algodon Wine Estates Barrel Ownership program.

Here’s how it works: You (or a group of pals) purchase a barrel (which costs upwards of $5,000) to make your very own vino, complete with a custom label. Choose from a number of varietals — malbec, syrah, cab sav, merlot, bonarda, and chardonnay.

Like any decent winemaker, you must taste your offerings firsthand, which the vineyard makes easy with a complimentary two-night stay at an Argentine resort.

Soon after, you’ll be the proud maker/owner of about 290 bottles of Argentina’s finest.

That’s living the South American dream.

Jennifer Hudson Ready 'To Get On With Her Life,' Says Clive Davis

Linked from MTV.COM

As Hudson rehearses for Pre-Grammy party, Davis says she's dedicated to making her late mother proud.

After Jennifer Hudson's soaring (prerecorded) rendition of the national anthem at the Super Bowl, her first public appearance since her family tragedy, the singer's got an even bigger weekend ahead of her. The Oscar winner is up for four awards at the Grammys, where she'll also be performing. And before all that, she'll warm up on Saturday night with an appearance at Clive Davis' annual Pre-Grammy Gala.

When MTV News caught up with Davis on Thursday, Hudson was rehearsing her Grammy-nominated song "Spotlight." The legendary music mogul spoke about how Hudson is doing in the wake of the tragedy she faced last fall when her mother, nephew and brother were murdered.

"She's coped internally. She's coped with her family," Sony Music's chief creative officer said. "I'm sure she's coped within her religion. I was there at the funeral. I think that she has ... to dig down deep, because this has been an indescribable tragedy."

Davis also said that he and Hudson have talked in-depth about the tragedy. He said she's ready to get back to work, which includes going on a spring tour and releasing a new music video for "If This Isn't Love."

"Through the dialogue we've had over this period, she knows she's got to get on with her life," Davis said. "She knows that she's dedicated to making her family, especially her mother, proud of her.

"I just saw her onstage doing a run-through of 'Spotlight,' and there's no mistaking that this is Miss Jennifer Hudson," he added. "We're all looking forward to Jennifer."

Will Lil Wayne grab all the gramophones? Is Katy Perry going to tell her girl rivals to kiss off? Can Coldplay march off with a win? MTV News is all over the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, so stay tuned for interviews, analysis and more before, during and after the big night, Sunday, February 8.
